INDIA: Travel Tips for First-Timers

With neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Nepal, China, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Indonesia, India is considered as one of the largest and densely populated countries in the world. The country’s picturesque landscapes, glorious past, sacred sites and exquisiteness makes it a major tourist destination. One life is just not enough to see everything in this incredible country as every nook and cranny of this place has something waiting to be explored. But at the same time, you should also know that a trip to India can quickly turn into a nightmare if you aren't very well aware of the risks and travel tips. Treat it as an adventure, book flight tickets to India and if you survive the experience (which of course I know you will), you will just never ever forget it. I guarantee that!

So, just have a look on these important things you need to know when in India…
  • Avoid drinking water from any place unless it is bottled and the seal is still intact.
  • Try to eat freshly cooked food only while travelling through India.Uncooked or raw food will unavoidably be washed with contaminated water which can easily affect your health.
  • Never leave your belongings unattended in India as it will be taken in just few seconds. Keep them locked all the time and stay alert.
  • It is better to eat vegetarian food while in India to lessen the chances of catching serious food poisoning.
  • India is typically hot and dry, so keep yourself hydrated. Drink at least 2 litres (1/2 gallon) per day to avoid any health issue.
  • Do not ever think of traveling in unreserved third class. You will regret later.
  • Always ask the driver to turn the meter on before you get in a taxi otherwise you will be ripped off.
  • In India, dress conservatively as short or revealing dresses will attract unwanted attention and can make you feel uncomfortable.
